The last one out

Dear fans, this is probably my last post on this blog, it is with regret that I have to move on to other challenges after some very interesting years writing about fashion.

I am coming close to finishing my masters and I am therefore in pursuit of challenges of some other kind.

My passion for fashion and for writing for that matter have not waned, I continue to share the same values as I may have discussed or as you may have noticed in my writing.

First things first: I want to thank all readers who visited this blog, anyone who felt intrigued by things posted there in and was compelled to leave a comment, and those 0who contributed to the articles whether it was proposing discussion topics or the actual writing. As for those whom we shared a business mind, a big up for your support. I just can’t thank you enough. For anyone else who I might have left out of the list, thank you. Best of luck to you all in your endeavors, may your passion guide you to your dreams.

A fashion passion has been dear to me, it was a challenge that I took to develop my writing and my passion about fashion. A challenge that I had no idea how it would shape up or what I would do with it. It has been a journey, a long one, an interesting one, a learning opportunity. It has been something like non I have done before. Looking back at the journey, I find no regret, there might be some in that I am leaving. But I believe life holds bigger challenges for me.

For the good of mankind, for the benefit of sharing, learning or any other that may seem appropriate, content on this blog may be republished on other similar sites. Last, but not least, if you know anyone who might be interested in adopting this blog and running it as their own please ask them to drop me a line at

I believe I have not forgotten anything but I did not have a count of things I needed to say so the reality might elude me.

Discovering new stlyes

Fashion enthusiasts like to try out new styles every now and then. Some stick with what works for them and others grow in and out of styles as they…well you know.
Some have preferences, styles they prefer, maybe because of their careers or well… all the other things that make them prefer certain styles.
And then there are those who like to mix and match, spice up things, and try to rewrite or create new styles.
Being creative is a little difficult when it comes to things that everyone looks up to.
A creative chef can mix ingredients randomly, but the end result is not always servable. For instance, ketchup and coffee,
salad and milk, salt and honey, alcohol and beans, well… you get the idea.
But it is usually those who push the limits of fashion that come up with new styles and more often than not become trend setters.
And of course there are those who ruin everything for everyone, you know, some stuff you just don’t wanna see.
And of course others like myself, like to write and sometimes fantasize about it all.

Nightlife fashion

It was not yet Halloween but people were dressed in all sort, shapes and tastes. Some looking like they just walked outta bathroom, others like they are going to bed and others even though dressed seemed like they had no idea what they were upto.

Nonetheless, all happily gathered in a tavern, in a jovial mood, ready to get down with the get down. The doormen could not have been more serious, but even they didn’t seem to know why they were stone faced; everybody was here to have a good time. It seemed otherwise for them.

Nightlife fashion

Downstairs or if you prefer in the basement was they had the boom box, a dance floor and a DJ booth. Two DJs in the booth, I wondered why, one to insert and the other to press play. It was not like what they did was anywhere close to requiring a DJ leave alone two.

And what they played? Music like I’ve never heard, beats too fast, too close to each other, overlapping, you would have had the whole bar and steal dance to some sh’t. As in no matter how hammered you were, you wouldn’t have missed a beat. There was practically a beat to every step, or second imaginable or doable.

And yes, a face or two to ogle, a dashboard or two to ignite your interest in working them out and so much more that am not gonna say.

At the end of the night, you can imagine what was going down or up for that matter.

Green fashion for a sustainable living

Let there be sustainability in fashion.

There is a good cause for all conquests and undertakings, except of course in causes where there are none. Sustainable living is the new style in fashion and with it the reinvention of green as the new black.

The fashion industry has caught on the trend of sustainability thanks to the efforts of a number of eco conscious brands and start ups that is growing steadily.

Rapanui is one of the eco fashion brands that makes organic clothing using renewable energy. The brand features a traceability tool that enables customers to spread their influence about sustainability not just in making purchases but also in how clothes are made.

The service empowers earth lovers enabling them to make informed decisions about garments they purchase. That way, one can be sure how clothes they buy have been made and how their respective raw materials were acquired and thus be in a position to make the right decision both to the benefit of the planet and themselves.

Traceability serves as the last piece in the puzzle for those who looking to purchase sustainably as well as spread their influence on other brands. For fashionistas looking to do something about their carbon footprints, Rapanui may be your next best stop.

Style without fashion

Fashion, including what it stands for or is defined to be changes in a pace that even a writer cannot keep up with. But for all that it is and it gets to be, one would expect to see remnants of older styles or at least a progression of what used to be becoming what is and what is defining what is to be.

Not in all cases however. Like a river without a source, a direction or even a flow of some sort; how can that still be referred to as a river.

Fashion models waiting to walk

Picture the river, at the moment, dancing with pizzazz, swelling with currents and waves higher than you can imagine. Provocatively carrying everything in its wake, imposing, exposing, revealing, seducing, and yet when you look back the river possesses no signs of being what it is.

Almost like in a competition, it is about who squeezes their shapely or blowsy bodies into the most revealing, and strangling pieces, without even caring if the piece is an under or outerwear. In any case, they are now one and the same thing.

And ahead, the waves falter losing class, style and finally break up in all directions bringing an end to the meaning that they once gave to fashion and as a result refusing to define a path for further flow.

Flowing not with the current but like a flag; without a mind and thus a liking of its own changing direction with the wind. And when the wind is gone, it falls flat on its pole, like fashion does when style is gone.

Its fashionable to be back

What an unbelievable summer, full of action activities, chores and lot other things; fun! And I’ve missed sitting down and putting down lines and publishing experiences to my beloved fans.
Just so you know am yet to be caught by a writer’s block; I’ve just been too busy. As a matter of fact, I think there is no such a thing. Otherwise, all other professions would also have some block of some kind. No, when you are a real talent or just have the passion, there is no way fashion will elude you.
Am celebrating a beginning of an end here, I look forward to new challenges, styles, preferences and new passion.
Apologies to all who have missed the passion.

The midnight street

A full moon lights up the night seemingly making the street light useless.

A number of taxis lineup the station. With engines running, the diesel stench hangs in the air like smoke in a windless day.

One cabbie smokes while another talks carelessly to a drunk. Another takes a quick nap, one reads a newspaper and the lead stares out to nothingness.

He seems to have lost interest in his surroundings, his customers and his business. I wonder what he is thinking about…

Everyone is dressed for the night, a non busy night. The cabbies each with his or her own taste, the street walkers and pedestrians in all sorts, besides some are going to work and others mostly home.

Most are just roaming about aimlessly, looking for a party to crash and Pete knows what else.
