A fashion poem: Alice in fashion wonderland

I see a lot of boots, but I see no horse riding

boots treaded like tires and no one’s going hiking

heels off the ground, so high, reaching for nothing

clicks carry away concentration fading it to nothing

~

Clothes are shrinking, from knee to thigh high deep

breathe, don’t hold your breath, the dive ain’t deep

I see what I am supposed to imagine, what I imagine

is no longer fantasy but a vivid hodgepodge, imagine!

I am in a world of my own, anything worth a red cent?

everything is nonsense, because nothing is nonsense

nothing’s a sin, everything is scenic after it has been seen

Shoes for dummies

Who would have known that after all this years, all the technology and research that designers could be wrong about the only thing that they were supposed to get right; designing ergonomic foot wear. Obviously, some of them missed their calling. Or should I say most?

Since we now know that we’ve  been hammering our heels every time we went for a  jog, its a high time we carefully picked our foot wear, especially those that we play in.

Now that we are on the same page, and as thick as thieves, allow me to let you in on a story about a man and his ill fitting shoes.

Not so long ago, there was this young man who had just received his first pair of shoes; as a present for his birthday.Turned out that the shoes were not a perfect fit for him.

They were a size smaller and as a result hurt his feet and caused him pain. Whats worse, he never complained or went without them and amid the pain he wore them with pride as one may be proud of something that causes them misery.

Mostly because he had no prior experience in footwear, and thus he did not know if shoes were supposed to hurt one’s feet. He had never heard anyone complain about their shoes. And so he thought that shoes were actually supposed to hurt one’s feet and that one was not supposed to complain about it.

And so with pride, he wore his pain day in day out until the shoes were worn out and his feet almost damaged.

As someone with a passion for fashion, I wonder why there were no books like Shoes for dummies or even a simple manual about how to wear shoes.

Because even to this day, people continue to squeeze their feet in small sized shoes and bear the pain just to look good or to have a particular look. And the situation keeps getting worse as the shoes are not designed ergonimically and it is those shoes that we end up squeezing our feet into.

The ugly truth about the ugg boots

The ugly truth about ugly things is that its ugly. Perfection in fashion is as rare as truth in science or justice in law or honesty in politics.

The ugg boots, their ugg:ness is short lived by being worn. And unlike crocs or other popular footwear, the do literary wear off the moment they are worn.

I have not worn a pair so far but I think that comfy, lightness or coziness depending on the wearer is the main asset.

Looking at a pair worn over a few days feels like looking at a badly stored loaf of bread. Specifically one that is not able to hold is intended shape anymore.

Ugghhrrrrr, only if breads could be baked to be breads.

Thats an amazing feat for a shoe, not! What makes the bread terrible for footwear is that it loses structural support not only externally but also internally and to make matters worse, it does that in a record time.

Within two weeks of constant wear, one can already make out the shape of the wearers leg from the outside, the inner expands sometimes adopting the shape of the wearer’s feet. Most often surpassing any ideal shape for a shoe or a leg for that matter.

And if that is not enough, like a structure that is so much in need of demolition, the uggs can no longer stand on themselves.

Structural reinforcement would be needed to get to 30. And by then, the soles will have given way, making the pair looks like a home experiment gone wrong.

And I can’t help but wonder how they manage to get these stuff to fly of the shelves. But then again it was an indoor shoe made transformed to an outdoor affair without much thought..

Her stuff was all over!

Previously, on a fashion passion…

The day after the previous one was better. Susan was gleeful, she was going shopping. Again. Matt was going to work, and even he was in high spirits.

Like birds happy for the morning, they chirped through breakfast. Their first in days. Matt was not a breakfast person. Over the weekend, they had got up after ten in the morning. And thus whatever they had had was more of an early lunch than a late breakfast.

She did not indulge in shopping sprees but for once Susan felt the need to. She was fussy, but even today, it was easy to get what she wanted. And at times what appealed to her even if she had not planned for it.

On coming home, Matt was surprised to find her stuff all over. It looked as though she was getting ready to move in while she was actually going to leave in two days. She was not even in a hurry pack up. Or had she changed her mind? Matt wondered.

In his shirt and a new skirt, she ambled around the house flaunting at him, with a wine glass half empty. She even had a new hairstyle, a sleek one.

Her stuff was all over!

Filled with purchases, others empty, tote bags littered the floor. Two pairs of shoes; checked flats and classic black pumps were carelessly placed on the bed. On the other side of the bed lay several panties, strings, tights and bras.

Obviously, she had just retried her purchases for the second, or the third or even the tenth time and was too tired to put everything back in place.

Matt was puzzled, but he was warming up to this side of Susan.

They spent the idyll evening indoors and without even caring to put things away, like soldiers awaiting a disbandment, cherishing the final moments.

The pullout was going to be difficult and would need more man power.

Fashion extends beyond cladding

For your typical fashion lover, being fashionable goes as far as buying and cladding goes, but for another class; the elite if you may like, keeping their wardrobe in beautiful, spacious and custom armoires is part of their being fashionable. If you have tripped across the popular MTV cribs show then you’ve got the idea. And it makes sense to keep your lavish collection immaculately.

In regard to the notion discussed above (am yet to put it to practice), someone pointed out some interesting article; 10 tools and gadgets for tool lovers. Even though the article is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to shoes’ fashion, it is a real eye opener for a fashion enthusiast like me.
